The Creation of a Hit
In 1984, Roland Orzabal played two simple chords, almost dismissively. While the band couldn't see the potential, producer Chris Hughes heard a number one single. The song, which would later become a cornerstone of Tears for Fears’ success, was an unexpected addition to their album. Originally titled "Everybody Wants to Go to War," it was transformed into the anthemic "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" within two weeks.
